IN FEW WORDS:
Located not far from the centre of Pondicherry, the « Cluny School for Differently Abled » is an institution for about forty between the ages of 5 and 18. All of them suffer from mental retardation and/or physical disability.
The little sisters of the « Congregation of the Little Sisters of St Joseph of Cluny » take care of their education and appropriate treatment is given by a physiotherapist.
The school was reported to the government by an inspecting team because of the miserable state of the building and asbestos contamination
At that time, a building permit was delivered for 3 years and was hardly renewed in 2018. Due to a lack of funds, the project could not be completed until 2022.
OBJECTIVE :
The threat of the school's closure is imminent if the building is not rebuilt. It is unthinkable not to protect these « P’tits Loulous » neglected by society.
A detailed and costed estimate was requested for the reconstruction of the school.
This quotation includes:
The dismantlement of the current structure and clearance of the site before rebuilding;
A building with a wheelchair ramp;
Specific school protections.
In 2021, the fundraising done by other associations and « Akka » allowed the financing of the project and its construction.
